Sounds About Right
Whether your teenager's ADHD presents as primarily inattentive, hyperactive, or combined type, they are probably thinking about DONUTS or other things they prefer to think about more often than you wish they would.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder isn't a great name for what your teen experiences.
Teens with ADHD have
Interest-Based
Nervous Systems*.
* This term was coined by Dr. William Dodson to describe how hyperfocus works for people with ADHD.

When boring things feel like torture.
"This is
borture."
Neurotypical individuals have a steady, predictable flow of dopamine. While they still experience boredom, their brains provide enough chemical reinforcement to help them "power through" mundane tasks.
In contrast, neurodiverse individuals, like your ADHD teen, have an inefficient dopamine system.
Instead of a steady flow, their dopamine often gets reabsorbed by their brain before it can successfully deliver its message to the next neuron.
Because of this dopamine short circuit, teens with ADHD don't always receive the standard chemical rewards for finishing routine chores or schoolwork.
We May be Able to Help
The Soaring Squirrels Executive Function Coaching Program was created with your offspring ages 12-22 in mind. It's chock full of research-based strategies designed to help your teen bust through boredom, plan ahead, set attainable goals, manage time, and focus even when things are boring. Conceptualized by a state-licensed secondary educator, the SSEFC Program puts the client at the center and encourages them to "drive" their learning.
If you think your teen or young adult could benefit from Executive Function Coaching, then they probably can. But here's the thing. They need to want to. So, we start with a low-stakes Meet and Greet session and if they are interested, then we'll move forward!

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3
Schedule a 60 min. Meet-and-Greet session.
We'll explore your teen's unique ADHD strengths and identify where they could use support. This is a mini-lesson with content your teen can use right away.
This session includes 40-45 minutes with your teen and 15-20 minutes with you, the parent(s).
Cost: $80
If everyone decides this is a good fit, we'll begin meeting once per week for 5 weeks to work through the Soaring Squirrel Executive Function Coaching program.
The weekly session format is 50 minutes of Executive Function Coaching for your teen, followed by 10 minutes of communication between the coach and parent.
We will schedule the coaching series after the Meet-and-Greet session.
Cost: $699 + supplies (<$80)
After your young adult has completed the SSEFC program, they'll be ready to soar! But when things come up, we'll still be here to support them.
At this stage, most teens prefer to meet 1x every month or two to troubleshoot and keep skills sharp. We can set up recurring meetings or you can schedule at any time by clicking the button here.
Please note that Step 3 is only available to individuals who have completed the coaching program.
Cost: $160
